Bertha Marie Grogan, 75, of Mountain View, Missouri went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2018. She was born January 6, 1943 in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Lewis Mathew and Emma Matilda (Adams) Elliott.
Bertha was united in marriage to Lonnie Butler Grogan on March 6, 2011 in Beebe, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Rev. Douglas McArthur Shannon, Sr. and Rev. Eugene “Pat” Brister; six siblings, Ray Elliott, Edward Elliott, Lewis “Lucky” Elliott, VJ Elliott, Coyeata Livermore and Lois Buckner.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie, Mountain View, MO; two daughters, Sherri Cronk , McRae, AR, Terri Day and husband, David, Searcy, AR; one son, Douglas Shannon, Jr., Mountain View, MO; two step-children, Donna Talbert and husband Gary, Memphis, MO (three children), Lonnie Wayne Grogan and wife Lisa, Gamaliel, AR (two children); one sister, Esther Ruth Argott, Aurora, CO; six grandchildren, Bradley Grogan and wife Amanda “Mandy”, Christopher Grogan and wife Kimberly, John Cronk and wife Summer, Jared Cronk, Ethan Shannon and wife Brooke, and Dustin Shannon; eight great-grandchildren, Chase, Emma, Grayson, Bentley, Bella Marie, Hadynn, Korbin, and Titan; and many nieces and nephews.
Bertha was of the Pentecostal faith and an Ordained Licensed Minister. She served as a pastor’s wife for over 40 years. She was active in the Pentecostal Ladies Auxiliary and served as Sunday school teacher and song leader during her ministry years. She loved reading and gardening. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Pentecostal Church of God, Mountain View, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 also at the church with Rev. Michael Dake officiating. Graveside services will be in Weir Cemetery, Beebe, AR at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com. Contributions may be made in Bertha’s name to The ALS Association, Mid-America Chapter and left at Yarber Mortuary.
