William Hobert Shackelford, 83, of Fayetteville, formerly of Route 1, West Fork, died Sunday in a local hospital. Born Aug. 18, 1896, at Thompson (Madison County), the son of William Sandford and Perline Nickell Shackelford, he was a retired farmer, a life-time resident of the area and a member of New Sulphur Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors are one son Joe J. of Littleton, Colo.; two grandchildren, Jimmie Jene Shackelford of Fort Collins, Colo. and Joe Mark Shackelford of Auburn, Calif. and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moore's Chapel with burial in Brentwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Gladys Ruth Shackelford, 85, Rt. 1, West Fork, died July 5 in a Fayetteville hospital. Born Sept. 16, 1892, at Oswego, Kan., she was the daughter of Everett L. and Bessie Boten Cress and a member of New Sulphur Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Hobert W. Shackelford of the home; one son, Joe Jim Shackelford of Littleton, Colo.; two brothers, Jim Cress of Kansas and Neal Cress of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Barron of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Moore's Chapel, Fayetteville. Burial will be in Brentwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy Skelton, Leroy Stonecipher, Jerry Skelton, Doyle Shackelford, Brent Hale and Pat McMurry.
