BELLA VISTA — Hal Eugene Fitch, 56, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, April 5, 2010, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. Hal was born in Kearney, Neb., on April 18, 1953, to Harold E. and Tibbie Dewey Fitch.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1971. In 1972, he married Carole Lanette Kobernusz, who preceded him in death in 2Q03. In 2004, he married Sandra Kueck Humphrey in Douglas, Wyo. The following year, they moved to Bela Vista.
Hal retired from Exxon-Mobil Corporation after 25 years of service, primarily as a merchant seaman. He was active in Jaycees and was recognized for his service with JCI Senator #39985 in 1986. He played drums in a number of country bands in Wyoming and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, where he played and sang in the praise band, volunteered with Auto Angels and participated in the Methodist Men's Golf League. He will be remembered for his beautiful baritone voice and his love of music and his family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carole; and an older brother, Don D. Fitch.
He is survived by his parents, Harold and Tibbie Fitch; wife, Sandra; sister Jean (John) Justice, all of Bella Vista; sister, Kim (Paul) Budd of Sugar Creek, Mo.; brother, Van Fitch, of Eveleth, Minn.; daughter, Nikki Fitch, and granddaughter, Alex, of Douglas. Wyo.; son, Eric (Filomena) Fitch, and grandchildren, Madison, Courtney and Kyle of Arlington, Mass.; stepsons, John Humphrey, of Denver, Colo., and Gram (April) Humphrey and grandsons, Russell and Trenton of Douglas, Wyo.; brother-in-law, Dennis (Marilyn) Kobernusz of Spencer, S.D.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Bella Vista, on Thursday, April 8, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sara Bainbridge officiating.
The family will gather for burial of cremains at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Helping Hands Inc, or First United Methodist Church, Bella Vista.
Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715.
