Earl Lee Cornell, 67, of Bella Vista, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Chicago to William Cornell and Kathryn Switzer Cornell.
He was raised and educated in Chicago. He graduated from South Shore High School in 1959. He received an electrical engineering degree from Chicago Technical College in 1964, then spent six years in the Illinois National Guard. After working for 30 years at the John Deere Des Moines Works, he retired in 1997, and he and his wife, Patty, moved to Bella Vista.
He was an avid bowler and golfer and was known for his John Deere golf car.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Cornell; four sons and daughters-in-law, Tyler and Sara of Ankeny, Iowa; Tracy and Heather of Lucas, Iowa; Todd and Lisa of Monument, Colo., and Tony and Cathy of Sheldahl, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Linda of Montrose, Colo.; a cousin, Claudi Boyd of Kouts, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two nieces.
At his request, there will be no public services.
Cremation arrangements were by Epting Funeral Home of Bella Vista.
Memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter; to Circle Of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762; or to the American Cancer Society.
