RITES FOR MRS. BLACK WERE HELD HERE SUNDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Cash Black, aged 62, widow of the late George Black of Bentonville, who died at her home here on D Street, S.W., at 4:30 o’clock Friday morning, Feb. 28th, 1936, following a long illness, were held at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. J. Abner Sage. Music was by the church choir with a vocal quartet number by Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Brock, Mrs. Arch Wright and Buell B. Spencer. Mrs. Florence Gladden was pipe-organ accompanist. Pallbearers were J.W. Blocher, Chas. W. Foster, D.T. Laine, Hubert Cook, Homer Stottsberry, and Ross Martin. Burial was in the family lot at the Bentonville cemetery. Funeral arrangements were charge of the Burns Funeral Home of Bentonville.
Mrs. Black was a daughter of the late William D. Cash, Confederate veteran and pioneer Northwest Arkansas citizen, and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Wright Cash. She was born near Bentonville in Cash Hollow, a locality named for her family, on Dec. 25th, 1878. She had lived in and near Bentonville all of her life and was highly respected by all who knew her. She and George Black of this section were married Nov. 17th, 1897. He died here a few years ago. Mrs. Black had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, for many years.
She is survived by one son, Charles Black of Bentonville, and a sister Mrs. Nancy Searcy of Webb City, Mo., Mrs. Searcy was at the bedside of her sister when the end came, having been called to Bentonville a day or so earlier by Mrs. Black’s critical illness. Mrs. Black’s other surviving relatives include a niece of Webb City, who was also here.
Mrs. Black was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America fraternal organization, and members of the Rogers and Bentonville chapters attended her funeral.
