BELLA VISTA — Arthur James Collins, 84, of Bella Vista died April 24, 2007, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. He was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Springfield, Mo., to James William and Abigail Winn Collins. He grew up and was educated in Springfield. He married Lora Childress, on April 25, 1942. He was a Coast Guard veteran. After the war, he worked for Montgomery Ward, retiring in 1982, after 36 years of employment. He and his wife moved to Bella Vista in 1982, where he played golf and was active in AARP, POA and Crime Watch. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time at their second home in Branson, Mo.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lora Collins of Bella Vista; one daughter, Cynthia Ann Ross and husband Michael of Las Vegas; one brother, Robert Collins of Springfield; one sister, Margaret Thomas of Republic, Mo.

A memorial service will be held later.

Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, 72762 or Bella Vista Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 5248, Bella Vista, 72714.
