Marilyn Jean Black, 84, died June 18, 2012, in Lantana, Texas. She was born in Bloomington, Ill., to Florence L. and Clarence C. Warmbir. She resided in both Bloomington and Pontiac, Ill., before moving to Bella Vista, Ark.

She was an administrative secretary/office manager for 25 years with the Selective Service System in Pontiac. She completed her business career as office manager and administrative secretary to the director of the Illinois High School Association. She retired after 15 years with the IHSA.

She was preceded in death by Stanley J. Black, her husband of 51 years; her parents, Florence and Clarence Warmbir; and a sister Betty Katz.

Survivors include two nephews, David Katz (Amy) and Daniel Katz (Brenda), both from Bloomington, and one niece, Rebecca Katz Garza (Luis) from Texas, six great-nieces and nephews, and six great-great-nieces and nephews.

She loved animals and was especially fond of her six English Springer Spaniels. They were a great source of joy, comfort and companionship during her lifetime. She was a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club and Bella Vista Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. July 7, 2012, at Bella Vista Lutheran Church. Visitation will be a half hour before the service. Donations may be made to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter.
