Jody Tourtelot, 45, of Loma Linda, Mo., passed away March 7, 2011, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. She was born Oct. 16, 1965, in Kansas City, Mo., to Diana Lynn Ryan and Daniel George Tourtelot. Jody graduated from Independence High, San Jose, Calif., in 1984, and attended Fullerton State University in Fullerton, Calif. She grew up in San Jose and moved to Bella Vista, Ark. in 2001, to care for her grandmother, Genevieve Lynn and to work for Cooper Communities. Jody had a very warm and outgoing personality and made friends easily. She loved to travel, having been to Europe, South America and many great places in the United States. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, John and Diana Ryan, of Edgewood, N.M.; her father and stepmother, Dan and Billie Ruth Tourtelot, of Loma Linda; three stepsisters; one stepbrother; many aunts, uncles, stepnieces and stepnephews; and many friends who will dearly miss her. Memorial services will be at Peace Lutheran Church, 20th and Wisconsin in Joplin, on Monday, March 14, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Pape officiating. Her remains will be interred in the Bella Vista Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bella Vista, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to The American Lung Association. Please specify that you want the donation to go strictly towards research in Small Cell Lung Cancer in the message body.
