Sherry Ann Burks, age 67 of Malvern, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017. She was born in Santa Maria, California on December 18, 1949 to Herschel Dean Burks and Melba Nix Burks. Reared and educated in Malvern, Sherry worked for the local Steelworkers Union, Baptist Medical Center, and the Malvern Senior Center for many years. She worked in the nursery at First Assembly of God Church for 30 years. Always doing for others, she volunteered for many organizations and was involved in many local charities. Sherry was an animal lover and one of the things closest to her heart was her association with the local animal rescue and placement mission, Stop Animal Cruelty (S.A.C). She was a "founding" volunteer for the Community Holiday Meals at First United Methodist Church, and was the first to greet you as you came in. Her smile and positive attitude were infectious.

Sherry leaves behind her son, Brandon Jones and his wife, Stephanie of Magnet Cove; her father, H. D. "Sonny" Burks of Malvern; her brother, Bruce Burks and his wife, Brenda of Malvern; and her beloved grandchildren, Paige, Matthew, Hayden, and Jackson Jones.

She was preceded in death by her brother, David Burks, who died in 1973.
A graveside service was held on Friday afternoon, August 18, 2017 in the Shadowlawn Cemetery under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Memorials are requested to Stop Animal Cruelty, P.O. Box 1521, Malvern, Arkansas 72104.
