Guy Louis Tate, Sr., was born December 8, 1935 in Walnut, Arkansas, to the late Joseph and Myrtle (Ricketts) Tate. He passed away on September 12, 2021, at Arkansas Hospice House, Russellville, Arkansas, at the age of 85. Guy enjoyed being outdoors, beekeeping, woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family.

Guy is proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Myrtle (Ricketts) Tate, his wife Marilyn Sue (Crice) Tate, one daughter, Evonne McClaine.

He leaves behind three daughters, Sherry Tate of Lamar, Arkansas, Jessica and husband Justin Edwards of Clarksville, Arkansas, Elizabeth Kemp of Knoxville, Arkansas; three sons, Guy Tate, Jr and wife Norma of Ozone, Arkansas, James and wife, Karen Tate of Lamar, Arkansas, Douglas Tate of Lamar, Arkansas; son-in-law George McClaine of Lamar, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one sister Betty Tate, and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Tate's funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 240 Country Club Dr. Clarksville, Arkansas 72830 with Bro. Garry Trotter officiating. Burial will be in the Holman Cemetery, Lamar, Arkansas with Travis Kemp, Heath Kemp, Justin Edwards, Brian Fetters, Dalton Fetters, Nathan McClaine and Derrick Tate serving as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Marilyn Sue Tate, was born March 9, 1939 in Picher, Oklahoma, to the late Jesse and Geneva Clouse Crice. She died July 3, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital, Russellville, Arkansas, at the age of 70. She attended school in Picher, Oklahoma, graduated from Arkansas Valley Vo Tech, member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a cook and nurses aide. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Crice.

She leaves behind husband of 55 years Guy L. Tate, Sr of Ozone, Arkansas; five daughters, Evonne and husband, George McClaine of Hagarville, Arkansas, Peggy Tate of Oklahoma, Sherry Tate of Bentonville, Arkansas, Jessica Tate of Clarksville, Arkansas, Elizabeth and husband, Leeroy Kemp of Knoxville, Arkansas; three sons, Guy Tate, Jr of Oklahoma, James and wife, Karen Tate of Lamar, Arkansas, Douglas and wife, Jill Tate of Lamar, Arkansas; two sisters, Laura and husband, Wayne Hill and Cindy and husband Norman Raffelson both of Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George McClaine, Nathan McClaine, Leeroy Kemp, Heath Kemp, Jeffery Freeman, Travis Kemp.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Derrick Tate and Brian Fetters.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2009, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home, Clarksville, Arkansas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Clarksville, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Holman Cemetery, Lamar, Arkansas.

Roller-Cox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
