"The time has come. I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race.” While the end of Guy’s blessed life leaves us grief-stricken, it was the way in which he lived his life that will continue to inspire those of us fortunate enough to be part of his world. Those of us who loved him have peace that he has an eternity of pain free living in his new life.

Guy Allan Sackett, 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, nephew, and friend went to be with our Lord on December 8, 2015, in Conroe, Texas, after a lengthy illness. He was born on Nov. 26, 1946, in Pittsburg, KS. He moved to Siloam Springs, AR, where he graduated from high school in 1965. He served in the U S Navy from 1966 - 1969, receiving an Honorable discharge. He went to work for the Kansas City Southern Railway Co. in 1970; then served as a Labor Representative from 1985 until his retirement in 2008 with the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes, MOPAC Federation. He was a disabled veteran of Viet Nam and belonged to the American Legion, the VFW, and NARVRE. He attended Henderson State University and Northwest Arkansas Community College. Guy was a member of West Conroe Baptist Church where he sang in the “Remember When Singers”, whose ministry was to sing in the area rest homes. Guy was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Robert and Gertrude Sackett, two favorite aunts and uncles, Shirley Edwards, Mick Ellis, Pete Ellis and Herschel Ellis, and a special cousin, Vicki Gladstone. He also had a very close friend, Bill Studards, also a Viet Nam vet, who preceded him in death. Guy is survived by his loving wife, Pam Sackett, his sister, Connie Smith of Tulsa, OK, two daughters, Michelle Karnes (John) of Fayetteville, AR, and Chrissy Higgins (Wesley) of Siloam Springs, AR, and stepson Robert Green (Tiffany) of Denver, CO. Grandchildren are Chad, Faith, and Adam Castleberry, Dylan and Dawson Smith, Destany Higgins, Haylea Vinson, Brianna, Taylor, Olivia, and Chloe Karnes, and Weston, Clayton, and Carter Green, and the large extended family of Ellis. He leaves behind a rich legacy in the relationships he nurtured. A memorial graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR. at a later date. We want to thank the many doctors, their staff, and Vitas Hospice for the awesome care they provided him throughout this difficult journey. The family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
