Jonesboro—Claude E. Pruitt, 71, of Jonesboro died Thursday at his home. He was the owner and operator of Pruitt Motor Company. Mr. Pruitt was born in Beebe; he moved to Jonesboro in 1999, coming here from Searcy, and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eschol Lee Pruitt.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Pruitt, of the home; four sons, Lee Pruitt and Eric Pruitt of Heber Springs, Russell Pruitt and his wife Rosanne of Conway, and Bobby Pruitt and his wife Lupe of San Antonio, Texas; one step-son; Roger Coffey of Bean Station, Tennessee; two daughters, Edie Gage and her husband Patton of Jonesboro, and Karen Helmbeck and her husband Greg of Little Rock; his mother, Lockie Pruitt of Maumelle; three sisters, Beckey Smith of Little Rock, Jackie Brown and her husband Paul of Little Rock, and Virginia Fitzgibbon of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Victoria, Zachary, Lee, Alex, Nicholas, Palmer, and Bionca Pruitt, and Holly Allen and great-granddaughter Emma Pruitt.
Services for Mr. Pruitt will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery at Antioch, AR. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Eric Pruitt, Patton Gage, Russell Pruitt, Lee Pruitt, Bobby Pruitt, and Robert Weatherford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bull Schrable and Wayne Farley.
