December 24, 1934 - January 28, 2020
Vera Shaw was born on December 24, 1934 to the late Otana and Annie B. Smith in Camden, Arkansas. She attended Lafayette School and graduated from Wasco High School in Wasco, California. She accepted Christ at a very young age and united with Saint Mary’s Baptist Church.
She married Earvin Shaw and together they raised four children. She was employed at General Dynamics until her retirement. Throughout Mrs. Shaw’s life she was devoted to her family, and was a very active member of her church and community, where she served as President of Mission, Vice President, Church Clerk and Choir Member. She enjoyed doing many activities for others including crocheting, quilting, and canning. She was an active member of the Friendly Neighbors Home Extension Club for a number of years where she shared her love of crafts and homemaking. She departed this life on January 28, 2020 and slipped away to her heavenly home.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her husband, a son – Danny Shaw, three siblings – Sway/Dean Smith and Curtis Smith, Luther Coleman and one grandson – Brandon Shaw.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons including Augustus Ellison(Betty) of Pine Bluff, Sammy Patterson and Earvin J. Shaw (Loddie) of Camden, and one daughter, Annie F. Todd (Byron) of Tallahassee , Florida; sisters – Dora Lee Anderson of Camden, Janice Rideout (Lynn) and Shelia Finley of Las Vegas; brothers – Agee Smith (Nina) of Camden, Henry Smith of Milwaukee; Donnie Smith (Deloris), Donald Smith (Ruthie), and Jeff Smith (Chariya) of Las Vegas. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
Rev. O'Dell Carr will be officiating.
Interment will be held in St. Mary Cemetery.
