Billy Ray Highsmith was born in Amy, Arkansas on Wednesday, September 4, 1963 to O. D. Flint and Celaster Highsmith. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church in Amy, Arkansas and often attended Shady Grove Baptist Church.
He was a 1982 graduate of Harmony Grove High School and was a member of the basketball team. Billy Ray didn’t like his name and hilarious re-named himself “Glen” and everyone knew Glen. He met the beautiful and soft-spoken Latrinda Williams. After an appropriate period of courtship, they were married on February 23, 2013. The Lord blessed their union with a blended family of six children and three grandchildren.
They settled in Hutto, Texas just outside of Austin and built their first home. Glen was a great provider having worked as a truck driver for Woodfield Trucking Company for over 15 years. He modeled the true meaning of a being a man, that left a lasting impression on his family
In his spare time, Glen enjoyed the company of his family and close friends. He loved watching sports, detailing his car, and truck driving. He loved to entertain and went to great lengths to ensure that everyone had an enjoyable time. He particularly loved the competition associated with sports and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys football fan.
Above all, Glenn will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his wife. He took pride in providing the best for his children and he mastered being a true friend.
Family, as well as friends, will miss his strength, infectious smile and laughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Christine Scott and two brothers, Edward Highsmith and T. J. Highsmith.
His life was full and he was truly sincere in heart. The memory of his existence will forever be woven into the lives of those who were blessed to know him. He leaves his beautiful wife, Latrinda Williams Highsmith of Hutto, TX; four children, Sha’Kira Carroll of Memphis, TN, Kali Highsmith of Little Rock, AR, Tre’ Highsmith of Shreveport, LA and Kaliah Highsmith of Virginia Beach, VA; two bonus children, Tyler Purifoy of Camden, AR and Anari Shaffer of Hutto, TX; three grandchildren, Kaielyn Cook, Karsyon Juniel and Karma Williams all of Maumelle, AR; two sisters, Laroyln V. Highsmith of Camden, AR, and Elaine (Andrew) Butler of Detroit, MI; and one brother, Ivory Highsmith of Little Rock, AR; an aunt Velma Flint and an uncle, Thomas Flint; his father and mother-in-law, Calreece and Frances Williams of Chidester, AR. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend, Linburg Gibbs of Camden, AR numerous other friends and the Woodfield Trucking Company family.
