OBIT

Betty Sue Phillips, the daughter of Burie E. Smith and Era Lee Parker, was born in Elba, Alabama on January 21, 1937 and passed away at her home in Edgemont, Arkansas on July 28, 2019 at the age of 82 years.

Betty worked as a homemaker and was a sacrificial giver of her love, time, and care for her family. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, cooking and baking (making the world’s best homemade cinnamon rolls), fishing, and being on the lake, however her favorite pastime was spoiling her many grandchildren. She was of the christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burie E. Smith and Erie Lee Parker, husband, Tommy J. Phillips Sr., son, Tommy J. Phillips Jr., two brothers Malcolm Smith and James Smith and three sisters, Inez Brooks, Dorothy Smith and Annie Mae Wilkerson.

She is survived by her children: Teresa Gadberry (Junior) of Quitman, Arkansas, Jack Phillips of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, Ron Phillips (Kim) of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Larry Phillips (Lillian) of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, and daughter-in-law Sue Phillips of Prim, Arkansas; four sisters: Annette Tyler, Alabama, Margie Daniel, Alabama, Faye Coppage, Alabama and Martha Langston, Georgia, nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild as well as other relatives and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Family Funeral Service Chapel in Heber Springs, Arkansas. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Jacksonville, Arkansas by Rev. Bob Leal.
