John A. Buffington, 79, of Lamar died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at his home.

He was a native of Booneville, son of the late David Elijah and Julie Ann Emberson Buffington; retired Johnson County Road Department employee, and was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lemons Buffington; two sons, Danny Buffington and wife, Linda, of Benton and Neal Buffington and wife, Anna, of Bryant; two daughters, Beverley Hanley and husband, John, of Lamar and Rita Dorney and husband, John, of Hartman; one brother, David Edgar Buffington; nine grandchildren, Ronnie Ritchie, Lynard Buffington, Delenah Curtis, Jeffrey Riley, Larry Riley, Michael Riley, Gleeann Buffington, Dakota Cates and William Dorney; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Carey officiating. Burial was in Lamar Cemetery.

Shirley Ann (Lemons) (Buffington) Boen of Lamar, AR was born August 16th, 1937 in Lamar, AR, and passed away September 14, 2015 in Clarksville, AR at the age of 78. She was a Licensed Nurse Practitioner.

She is preceded in death by her parents; James W. and Dessie M. (Carter) Lemons; husband, John A. Buffington; sisters, Sue Boen and Betty Lemons; step-grandson, David Wyatt.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Boen; sons; Danny Buffington and wife Linda of Benton, Neal Buffington and wife Annie of Bryant; step-sons; David Sorter of FL, Martin Boen and wife Debbie of Atkins, Jerry Boen and wife Michelle of Lamar; daughters, Beverly McKnight and husband David of Clarksville, Rita Dorney and husband John of Hartman, step-daughters; Mary Drey of Lamar, Linda Komadino and husband Craig of Phoenix, AZ, Debbie Hunt and husband Shawn of Dover, Jennifer Zolliecoffer and husband Cecil of Coal Hill; step-mother, Lorene Lemons of Lamar; brothers, James R "Sonny" and wife Pat of Lamar; step-brothers; Ronnie, Gary, Randall and Donnie; step-sisters; Sandy, Brenda and Rhonda; nephew, William "Junior" Belcher and wife Norita of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren; Ronald Ritchie and wife Heidi of Lamar, Lynard Buffington and wife Alex of Clarksville, Delenah Curtis and husband Gary of Lamar, Jeff Riley and wife Maria of Clarksville, Larry Riley and wife Sara of Clarksville, Michael Riley of Lonoke, Gleann Buffington of Bryant, Dakota Cates and husband Matthew of Clarksville, William Dorney of Hartman; 23 step-grandchildren; Eric, Jesh, Rachel, Stacey, Nina, Brandy, Michael, Kenny, Carrissa, David, Channtisy, Chesleigh, Dawn, Elizabeth, Connor, Colton, Jeff, Laiken, Tameka, Courtney, Emily, Joe, and Natha; 40 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 18, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas.

Service will be held Saturday September 19, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas, with Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Cemetery in Lamar, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Ritchie, Michael Riley, Lynard Buffington, William Dorney, Jeff Riley, and Larry Riley.
