James Clark Pruitt, age 84, of Pottsville, Arkansas, died Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at his home.

He was born September 30, 1919, at Dabney, Arkansas, a son of the late Herbert B. and Micca Bell Robinett Pruitt. He was a veteran of World War II, a Private First Class of the Medical Detachment, 16th Infantry, serving in Europe and the Middle East. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on September 26, 1945, with decorations and citations of the European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge (one Oak Leaf Cluster), and the Bronze Star Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster). He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. Other than his parents, his stepmother, Dorothy Pruitt; two brothers, Elzie and Lamoyne Pruitt; and four sisters, Ruth Pruitt, Mary Delois Pruitt, Dorothy Pearl Pruitt and Faye Shelton; preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen Lorene Fetters Pruitt; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Leon and Becky Pruitt of Dover, Arkansas and Larry and Linda Pruitt of Russellville; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Sanders of Pottsville, Marlena and Gary Reddell of Russellville, Shirley and Mack Thompson of Barling, Arkansas, Debbie and Gerald Fryar of Central City, Arkansas and Brenda Stewart of Pottsville; two brothers, Gene Pruitt of Hector, Arkansas and Bill Pruitt of Lost Corner, Arkansas; a sister, Ann Sullivan of Anadarko, Oklahoma; five half-brothers, Wayne, Charlie, Donnie Joe, and John Pruitt and Jim Marple; four half-sisters, Bonnie, Ruby, Anita and Judy Pruitt; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 2 P. M., Friday, December 12, 2003, at the Shinn Chapel, with Rev. Jim Huffman and Rev. Herbert Tilley officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Rogers-Rye Post 2283 will be in the Lamar Cemetery at Lamar, Arkansas, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Pallbearers will be Cary Reddell, Mark Stewart, Jerry Sanders, Kyle Thompson, Justin Fryar, and Jeremy Fryar.

Honorary pallbearers will be Patricia Ledford, Cody Allen Pruitt, and Herbert Stewart.

Helen Lorene Pruitt, 88, of Pottsville, died Sunday, December 6, 2015, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. She was born September 26, 1927, in Lamar, to Dennis Sidney and Dora Bell Easley Fetters. She was a former produce sorter in California, and moved back to the Russellville area in June, 1967. She worked for Valmac (now Tyson Foods) as a grader, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pottsville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Clark Pruitt; a son-in-law, Jerry Sanders; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Becky Pruitt of Dover, and Larry and Linda Pruitt of Russellville; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Brenda Stewart and Joyce Sanders, both of Pottsville, Debbie and Gerald Fryar of Lavaca, Shirley and Mack Thompson of Barling, and Marlena and Gary Reddell of Russellville; a sister, Colleen Wilson of Russellville; thirteen grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Pottsville, officiated by the Rev. Jim Huffman. Burial will be in the Lamar Cemetery, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jerry Lynn Sanders, Cary Reddell, Justin Fryar, Kyle Thompson, Kevin Ledford and Cody Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Herb Stewart, Patti Ledford, Mark Stewart and Jeremy Fryar.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 5-6 p.m., at the funeral home.
