Abitha Dye

Norfork - Mrs. Abitha Hughes (Southard) Dye, 99, of Norfork, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at her residence. She was born on November 6, 1921 in Henderson, Arkansas to John and Curtis (Sinor) Hughes. She retired from Aeroquip in Mountain Home, was a seamstress, and a volunteer at the polls during elections. She also proudly volunteered with the Old Arkana Schoolhouse project by raising funds with her grant writing, yard sales, and selling of her famous fried pies.

Abitha is survived by her son Robert Southard (Diane); 6 grandchildren: Brenda Dodd (Dennis), Sherry Mason, Robbie Southard, Mandy Switzer (Brad), Marty Southard (Missy), and Travis Southard (Elayna); 8 great-grandchildren: Ashley Wells (Steven), Sonya Switzer, Steven Switzer, Stephany Southard, Brooklyn Bissell (Justin), Denise Lake (Robert), Case Southard and Uriah Southard. 3 great-great-grandchildren: Aiden Lake, Jaidyn Lake, and Haidyn Lake; 5 step-children: Rick Dye (Linda), Dan (Sharon) Melton, Betty Dutton, Deanna Quincy, and Joann Reynolds (Otis); daughter-in-law: Linda Marsh, and many more loved family members. Preceded in death by first husband Clyde Southard; second husband: Clyde Dye; son Virgil Southard, 4 brothers: Armel, Arvel, Abija (her twin), and Lynn Hughes, and sister: Cordelia Jones.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 Galatia Cemetery in Norfork, with a service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Roller Funeral Home.

[NOTE: Abitha Dye was buried beside her first husband Clyde Southard and her gravestone is inscribed Abitha Southard.]
