Mountain Home, Arkansas - A Graveside Service for Owen Rhudell Carpenter of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, December 10, 2018, at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sean Fletcher, Curt Cotter, Chance Cotter, Ryan Fletcher, and Camden Cotter. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clifford Carpenter, Clyde Carpenter, Roger Fletcher, Dewayne Moody, Durele Newton, Jimmy Mitchell, Jerry Mooney, Randy Mooney, Jim Farris, Steven Mitchell, all of his horseshoe pitching friends.
O.R. passed away December 4, 2018, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 94. He was born July 7, 1924, in Wideman, Arkansas, the son of Owen and Mollie May Carpenter. He married Helen Lois Mitchell on July 4, 1945, in Calico Rock, Arkansas, and was a backhoe operator for the City of Mountain Home. O.R. was an avid horseshoe pitcher and member of the Arkansas and National Horseshoe Pitchers Associations and loved to work in his yard.
O.R. is survived by his daughter, Judy (Roger) Fletcher of Mountain Home, AR; three grandchildren, Sean (Carey) Fletcher of Flippin, AR, Michelle (Curt) Cotter of Mountain Home, AR, and Alyssa Guidry of Mountain Home, AR; six great-grandchildren, Emily, Ryan, Chance, Camden, Carsen, and Laney; twin sister, Rhudeane Mills of Bakersfield, CA; brother, Clifford (Laverne) Carpenter of Oxford, AR; sister, Inez; brother, Clyde; sister, Joyce; sister, Maxine; and sister, Opal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Carpenter; brother, Herbert; and sister, Merle.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services - Mountain Home, Arkansas.
