*Obituary - L.D. Bales
L. D. Bales of Destin, Fla., formerly of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000.

He was a son of the late Jesse H. Bales, served in the U. S. Air Force and retired from Rockwell Inc., of California.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Bellar of Tacoma, Wash.; three sons, David Bales of Seagrove Beach, Fla., Greg Bales of Panaman City Beach, Fla., and Larry Bales of Tacoma, Wash.; mother, Ocie Walter of Clarksville; one sister, Thelma Clark of Clarksville; one half-sister, Golden Christian of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews.

A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 15, in Destin, Fla. Burial was Monday, Sept. 18, at East Mt. Zion Cemetery.

*Obituary Thelma Clark
Mrs. Clark was born Sunday, October 9, 1932 in Humnoke, AR to the late Jesse Bales and Ocie Callahan Bales.

Thelma was a very active citizen of Johnson County including the Senior Center and bowling teams. She enjoyed going to yard sales, crafts, and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed calling bingo. She was a former business owner.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents; husband, and one son, Larry Hood.

She is survived by son, John Michael Hayes of Clarksville; daughter, Linda and James Whitson of Pine Knot, KY; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by many.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Ocie M. Walter, 88, of Clarksville died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a daughter of the late George C. and Nora Callahan, widow of Charles A. Walter, member of East Mt. Zion Trinity Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one son, L. D. Bales.

Survivors include one daughter, Thelma L. Clark of Clarksville; two sisters, Corene Yardley of Jacksonville and Jo Drennon of Leavenworth, Kan.; two brothers, Gerald Callahan of Jacksonville and James Callahan of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Linda A. Whitson of Clarksville and Elizabeth Bellar of University Place, Wash., Larry W. Hood and John M. Hayes, both of Clarksville, Nick E. Clark of Indianapolis, Ind., and Larry D. Bales, Greg Bales and David Bales, all of Seagrove Beach, Fla.; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Private services and burial were at East Mount Zion Cemetery.
