Mamie Jo Thurman Taylor, 92, died in her childhood home in Chidester, AR on September 18, 2019 with family at her side. She was born to William W. and Beulah Cline Rushing Taylor on March 16, 1927 in Prescott, AR. She completed a masters degree from the University of Arkansas, worked as an educator and social worker for more than 40 years, and was an active member of Rushing Memorial UMC, United Methodist Women, and lay member of the Arkansas Annual Conference for many years. She played on a high school basketball state championship team, loved women’s college basketball, and was an avid Razorback fan.

Mamie Jo is survived by a brother, Dr. William W. Taylor (Pat) of Dallas, TX, sister, Ann Taylor Crawford of Quitman, TX, three children: Lu Thurman Harding (John) of Chesnee, SC. , Laura Rhea Thurman (John Maynard)of Chattanooga, TN; Taylor Thurman of Little Rock, AR; Grandchildren, Gary Burkhart, Jami Harding Jones (Chris), Chase Harding (Alissa), Lucy Maynard, Laura Maynard, TJ Thurman and Joe Thurman; and 4 great Grandchildren; a nephew, Jerry Allen Crawford, and extended family, Rick (Christine) Krentzlin and Lynn (Lynn) Graves along with many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Margaret Irene Taylor, and one daughter, Jai Taylor.

A Memorial Service will be held at Rushing Memorial UMC in Chidester, AR on Saturday September 21, 2019 at 10:30 am.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Chidester Food Pantry, c/o Rushing Memorial UMC, P.O. Box 219, Chidester, AR 71726.
