Nan Garland Wylie Purifoy, 68, gained her wings on Tuesday, December 01, 2015. She was born December 30, 1946 to Albert O. and Mary Garland Rushing Wylie of Chidester, AR. She was a lifelong resident of Chidester, AR. She was a graduate of Chidester High School and a long time employee of the Chidester and Fairview School Districts. During her career she worked with hundreds of Ouachita County children learning to read.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melanie L. Purifoy; her parents, and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Samuel Purifoy; sons, Jarrod Purifoy and wife, Natalie and Jason Purifoy and wife, Cindy; and grandchildren, Melanie E. Purifoy, Chase Purifoy, and Katie Purifoy.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Rushing Memorial United Methodist Church in Chidester, AR with Reverend Benny Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Chidester Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Rushing Memorial United Methodist Church, 302 North Benton Street, Chidester, AR 71726.
