James (Dutch) Houston, 72, of Clarksville died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011.

He was born July 1, 1939, in the Woodland Community, son of the late Remmel and Myrtle Jones Houston, member of the 1957 graduating class of Clarksville High School, graduate of Riverside Polytech Junior College, farmer for 18 years, Navy veteran, member of the Woodland Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and bus driver, member of the Clarksville City Council for 30 years, member of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 9, Royal Arch and 32nd degree Scottish rite, employed at Whitson-Morgan Motor Company for 32 year where he began as a mechanic before later being promoted to assistant service manager, employed part-time at Johnson County Landfill, and along, with Bryan Ukena, began the West River Valley Regional Solid Waste District in nine counties. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ginny.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; one son, Marty (Paula) Houston of Scranton; two daughters, Christina Minden of Little Rock and Sharon (Michael) Dixon of Alexander; one son, Carl (Angela) Minden of Little Rock; honorary son, Bryan Ukena of St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren, Anneke Bollman, April Houston, Jeremy Wilson, Shelley Jovel, Megan Toland, Holly Houston, Emma Minden, Garrett Houston, Mason Minden, Michaela Dixon and Aslyn Minden; and great-grandchildren, Halle Bollman, Braden Bollman, Annabel Rodriquez, and William David Roberts.
