Troy Dennis, 94, of Huntsville, Arkansas died March 24, 2021 at Countryside Assisted Living in Huntsville. He was born November 21, 1926 at his Grandmother’s house in Wharton Creek, the son of Audie Lee Dennis and Aggie Arizona Mullins Dennis. He managed the OTASCO store in Huntsville and Madison County Farm Bureau prior to owning and operating Huntsville Insurance Services until his retirement in 1999.
He was very proud of his Army service to our country in World War II and was on the first Honor Flight from XNA to the WWII memorial in Washington DC. He and his wife Sue traveled extensively and were fortunate enough to visit The Soviet Union, China, Europe, Africa, Greece, Brazil and all 50 states. His hobbies included gardening, reading, Razorback sports, St Louis Cardinal baseball, Dallas Cowboy football and most of all – spending time with his three granddaughters.
He was a long-time member of Huntsville Church of Christ and was baptized in Holman Creek at age 17. He was very active in Huntsville Kiwanis Club until age 93. He served the community in many areas including President of the Huntsville Lions Club 1955-1956, President of the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce 1958-1960, Beaver Dam Association Committee 1963-1966, President of the Madison County Fair Association 1962-1963, President of the Madison County 4H Foundation 1973-2004, Advisory Committee of the University of Arkansas Extension Service 1980-2004, Kiwanis Club President 1983-1984 and 2003-2004, and Huntsville School Board Member 1979-1989. He was also active in American Legion and Madison County Retired Teachers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother LD Dennis and Sister-in-Law JoAnn Dennis, Sister Frankie Littlejohn and Brother-in-Law Earl Littlejohn, and Sister Rowena Condley.
Survivors include his wife Wanda “Sue” Dennis whom he married July 14, 1962; Son Marty Dennis, Daughter-in-Law Susan and Granddaughters Emma , Lillian and Stella Dennis all of Rogers; Brother-in-Law Doug Condley of Afton, OK; Sister-in-Law Sandra Maxwell and husband Doug of Garden Grove, CA; Brother-in-Law Eddie Gore and wife Marilyn of Farmington; Nieces Liz Littlejohn Raney of Hot Springs and Holli Condley Gibson of Golden, CO; Nephews Rob Condley of Olathe, KS and Chris McKnight of Huntsville; and a very special cousin David Dennis of Charlottesville, VA.
Thank you to Tara Box and the staff at Countryside Assisted Living where Troy resided the last year of his life.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, March 27 in the Chapel of Brashears Funeral Home at 10:00 with Funeral Services to follow at 11:00. Glen Thomas and Larry Combs will be Officiating. Pallbearers will be Shelby Sizemore, Randy Faddis, Earl Mckinney, JR., Winford Phillips, Tommy Tice and Gabe Wight. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Berry, Alvin Lievsay, David Dennis, Charles Russell, John Brazzell, Charles Presley and James Officer. Internment will follow at the Aurora Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory in Huntsville.
