Heber Mack Johnson, age 84 of Jacksonville, departed this life on Friday, February 27, 2015. Heber was born on August 27, 1930 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Eldon E. and Lois McElhaney Johnson. He graduated from Treadwell High School in Memphis, Tennessee and later attended Memphis University.

In 1951, his Air National Guard unit was activated into service due to the Korean War. After serving his tour in the Air Force, he returned to Memphis and spent the next 15 years working for Sears & Roebuck. Heber then became employed with Firestone Tire Company until he retired after 25 years of employment.

Heber enjoyed being with his friends and family. He and his wife, Becky traveled in their 5th wheel camper. Heber loved to fish and enjoyed playing golf. In 2007, he recorded his first and only hole in one. Heber was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville and was a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother, Stanley O. Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rebecca "Becky" Johnson; two daughters, Elaine Rogers of Jacksonville, Karen Johnson of Greer's Ferry, Arkansas; son, Stephen Johnson of Sequin, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer (Bo) Roach; great granddaughter, Lexie Roach; great grandson, Ruger Roach of Benton; host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Shafer officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers are Rudy Sprouse, Frank Osborne, Bob Trippe, Johnny Rhodes, Mike Rhodes and Bo Roach. The family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. (501) 982-2136.
