Donald E. Smith was born to his parents October 9, 1919, in Racine, Wisconsin, and he passed away July 27, 2007, at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville, Arkansas, at the age of 87.

He was a carpenter, Captain and Veteran of World War II serving as an Aviation Engineer in the Philippines, Head Cabinet Maker City Lumber Company of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and also after he retired he did cabinet building in Clarksville. He was a longtime resident of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and former member of First Baptist Church in Kenosha, before retiring to Clarksville in 1981, Member of the First Baptist Church and American Legion.

Services were held at First Baptist Church in Clarksville, Arkansas. Burial was at Woodland Cemetery in Clarksville, Arkansas.
