OBIT

Edwin Howell Self, 90, of Cabot, passed away December 12, 2020. He was born September 29, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Henderson and Erdeal Self. Ed was a good, honest family man that never met a stranger. He was an excellent salesman for 40+ years primarily in the garden and pet supply fields. After retiring, Ed worked at the pro shop at Rolling Hills Country Club in Cabot. He was the first to be an honorary member of their golf club and earned himself a free lifetime membership there. Ed also enjoyed singing bass in several quartets, including the “Heavenaires” of Memphis, Tennessee, and sang through the rest of his life at his local church. In his spare time, Ed loved watching sports and cheering on the Cabot Panthers and the Universities of Arkansas and Alabama. Above all, he adored his family and cherished every moment with them. In addition to his parents, Ed was welcomed into Heaven by his son, Lawrence Self.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Self; children, David (Peggy), Don, and Sally Self; grandchildren, Jessica (TSgt Kevin) Brown, Mallory (Chad) Stallings, Taylor (Lindsay) Self, Jena (Michael) Reitz, Jera (David) Shepard and Emily Tucker; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Blaze, Charlotte, Austin, Logan, Grayson, Paxton, Coen, Cannon, Dylan and Rylan and many other extended family members and friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Arrangements by Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, (501) 843-5816.
