A Funeral Service for Frances Mary Below of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Tom Basye officiating. Visitation will be Friday, November 23, 2012 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Frances passed away November 14, 2012, in Peoria, Illinois, at the age of 96. She was born August 19, 1916, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Nicola and Josephine Rizzo Gallina. She married Arthur C. Below on February 25, 1939. They had two sons, Kenneth and Allen. They lived on the south side of Chicago until 1948, and moved to Hartford, Michigan. In 1952, they moved to Oaklawn, Illinois, where she worked at Little Company of Mary Hospital as an x-ray technician. Frances lived in Mountain Home, since 1975. She was a member of the Baxter Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, delivering flowers, pushing people in wheel chairs and working the front desk. Her husband of 56 years, died February 20, 1995. She had a well attended 92nd birthday party at the condominium clubhouse. Another member of the greatest generation has passed on and now she is with Jesus, her Savior and Lord.
Frances is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Mary Jane) Below of Caledonia, MI and Allen Below of Monticello, FL; four grandchildren, Steven (Heather) Below of Peoria, IL, Annette (Rick) Podgorski of Grayslake, IL, Janelle (Matt) Maris of Peoria, IL and Matthew Below of Wauconda, IL; twelve great-grandchildren, Jackson, Greyson, Colson Below, Kara, Kayla, Kerrick and Kullen Podgorski and Carson, Conner, Collin, Carter and Colbi Maris; one sister, Angela Riccardone of Northlake, IL, and one brother, Richard Gallina of Harrisburg, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Mary Jeffords and three brothers, Carl, Nickolas, and Joseph Gallina.
Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Ken Below, Allen Below, Steven Below, Rick Podgorski, Matt Maris, and Matthew Below as pallbearers and Kerrick Podgorski, Carson Maris, Kullen Podgorski, Connor Maris, Jackson Below, Collin Maris, Greyson Below, Carter Maris, and Colson Below as honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Baxter Regional Medical Center, Auxiliary.
Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
