Opal Fitzgerald Strayhorn, 87, of Memphis, Tennessee departed this life on Thursday, June 26, 2008. Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frealen Strayhorn and her son, Jimmy Strayhorn. Opal was a member at Oliver Creek Church of Christ, and a former member of Beebe Church of Christ
Opal is survived by her son, Jerry Strayhorn and wife, Gloria; daughter, Brenda McKee and husband, Jack; and one sister, Billie Healy. Also surviving Opal are nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitations will be held Saturday, June 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.and Sunday, June 29, 2008 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, AR with funeral services following at 2:00 P.M. Burial at Antioch Cemetery www.westbrookfuneralhome.com

When Frealen Delton Strayhorn was born in 1917 in Arkansas, his father, Delton, was 27 and his mother, Bertha, was 22. He married Opal Fitzgerald on June 26, 1937. They had two children during their marriage. He died on April 1, 1993, in Beebe, Arkansas, at the age of 75.
