A Memorial Mass for Frank George Halbert of Oakland, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 5, 2016, at St. Williams Catholic Church, with Father Paul Wightman officiating.

Frank passed away October 29, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 80. He was born October 16, 1936, in Cicero, Illinois, the son of Frank and Josephine Trakshelis Halbert. He served his country from 1958 to 1962 as a proud member of the US Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Six (Seabees) and carried their motto of “Can Do!” throughout his life. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he began a long career with Cleaver-Brooks and specialized in the installation, maintenance and repair of heavy industry firetube and watertube boilers. He married Barbara Kopek on August 1, 1959 and raised a family in the Chicago suburbs of Hickory Hills Illinois. Frank retired in 1995 and he and Barb built their dream home in Oakland, Arkansas where he joined the Oakland/Promised Land Volunteer Fire Department and served as a Firefighter for 6 years. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and gardening and was an accomplished arborist working on the beautiful world that God provided him.

Frank is survived by his wife, Barbara Halbert of Oakland, AR; two sons, Frank (Kerry) Halbert of Niceville, FL and Christopher Halbert of Darien, IL; daughter, Lynda (Joseph Sedevic) Halbert of Chicago Ridge, IL; six grandchildren, Brandon, Lauren, Damien, Justin, Andrew and Abigail.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marylin Halbert.

A private family inurnment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, AR. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and U.S. Navy Honor Guards.

Memorials may be made to Gail’s Pets Second Chance Shelter or the Oakland/Promise Land Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
