Wesley B. Sparrow age 92, of Jacksonville passed away Monday, August 1, 2011. He was born September 27, 1918 in White County to the late John W. Sparrow and Kate Young Sparrow. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother Maude Sparrow and a brother Kenneth Sparrow.

He grew up in the Harmony Community and lived in Little Rock as well as Jacksonville. He was a United States Army veteran and served during World War II.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville and he was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Jacinto Masonic Lodge in Jacksonville. He retired in 1982 as sales manager for Thibault Milling Company. The enjoyment of his life was making people happy with guitar playing, and singing. He entertained people at senior centers, nursing homes and at his church after his retirement, and he was a huge Arkansas Razorback fan.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Mary Ellen Fox Sparrow, and daughters, Patricia R. Wofford of North Little Rock, and Rita K. Fleckenstein and her husband Bob of Anchorage, Alaska. Grandchildren; Billy Wofford and his wife Lindsay of Dallas, Texas, Diana Gray and her husband Scott of Sherwood, Lisa Fletcher and her husband Chris of North Little Rock, Rob Fleckenstein and his wife Krista of Anchorage, Alaska, Michael Fleckenstein and his wife Angelina of Anchorage, Alaska, Philip Fleckenstein and his wife Danielle of Anchorage, Alaska, Scott Fleckenstein of San Mateo, California, David Fleckenstein of Anchorage, Alaska, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a special nephew Tom Slough and his wife Dawn of Searcy. He is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte Virden and husband David of Benton, and Sybil Dillon of Mabelvale, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home 501-982-2136. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Paws Inn No Kill Animal Shelter P.O. Box 501 Searcy, Arkansas 72145, or CARE, P. O. Mary E. Sparrow, 95, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed from this life on May 14, 2019. She was born August 8, 1923 in White County, Arkansas to the late Otho and Alcedean Fox. She was a member of Jacksonville First United Methodist Church for 50 years.

Mrs. Sparrow was a homemaker and fabulous cook who took great care not only of her family but many others. She was married to Wesley Sparrow for 71 years. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Survivors include, daughters Pat Wofford, Rita Fleckenstein (Bob). Grandchildren, Billy Wofford (Lindsay), Diana Gray (Scott), Lisa Fletcher (Chris), Rob Fleckenstein (Krista), Mike Fleckenstein (Angelina), Philip Fleckenstein (Danielle), Scott Fleckenstein, Dave Fleckenstein. Great grandchildren, Chelsea McGill (Jimmy), Jacob Fletcher, Sam Fletcher, Adam Fletcher, Avery Bryant, Claire Bryant, Cooper Fleckenstein, Charlotte Fleckenstein, Lila Fleckenstein, Olen Fleckenstein. Great great-grandchildren, Carter Reynolds McGill and Katie McHughes. Nephew, Tom Slough (Dawn), and one special friend and neighbor, Judy Faulkner.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home (501) 982-2136.
