Reflections of a Queen’s Life
Jewell Dean Lee
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1
It was February 27, 1967 when a queen was born in Hope, Arkansas to the late Charles Lee and Florence Hall. They named the beautiful baby girl Jewell Dean Lee.
Jewell went to Hope Public Schools before entering the workforce. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, going to church, spending time with her grandchildren and the rest of the family.
Her love for Christ was exemplified as she attended various church services until the Lord called her home. Jewell Dean Lee slipped away to glory on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Wadley Regional Medical Center of Hope, AR.
Living up to her name, Jewell was a precious gem to her family and friends over the years. She will remain a Queen in our hearts forever.
Jewell was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles Lee and Florence Hall; six brothers, Herman Maxwell, Mitchell Henderson, Clifford Stuart, Freddie Stuart, James Hall and Terry Lee; four sisters, Mary Willis, Janis Gulley, Roxie Whitfield, and Merlene Holleman; one niece, Patricia Willis; one nephew, Roderick McKinney; and one sister-in-law, Martha Ann Henderson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: the love of her life for 35 years, Benjamin Newton Sr.; three daughters, Dwyanna Lee, Latoya (Robert) Lee, and Jazzma Newton; two sons, DeMarkus (Sherrie) Newton and Benjamin Newton Jr. all of Hope, AR; three grandchildren, DeKarrein Brown, Cormeashia Wesley and Kadarrein Lee; two great grandchildren, DeKiyah Brown and Aiyden Brown; two brothers, Charles Ray (Elizabeth) Lee of Hope, AR and Jerry (Shirley) Lee of Texarkana, Texas; four sisters, Eddie Stuart, Shelia (Tommie) Law, Elizabeth Maxwell and Willie V. Johnson all of Hope, AR; a special aunt, Mary Faye McPherson of Perry, Oklahoma; three sister like friends, Evelyn (Billy) Porter, Gwendolyn Newton of Hope, AR, and Linda Rainer of Jackson, Tennessee; two special friends, Inet Young and Pauline Moses; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and other relatives and friends.
