Robert Lee Shores, Sr., 82, of Beebe, Arkansas went to be with the Lord April 21st, 2015. He was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on March 7, 1933 to William Shores and Velma Cooper Shores. Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid sportsman who loved to bird hunt and duck hunt. Robert earned his Bachelor of Science at UAM. He worked as an educator for forty-one years. He coached football and basketball for thirty-seven years. During his coaching career his Harrisburg Athletic Teams won State Championships in football, basketball and track. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty years, Ruth Shores in 2009; three brothers: Thurell, Tommy, and Leon Shores. He is survived by one son: Robert Lee Shores, Jr. and his life partner Victor Herec of Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters: Sharon Essex (Stewart) of Coy, Arkansas and Karen Black (Johnny) of Beebe, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Nicholas Eichler of Columbus, Ohio; Justin Eichler of Bull Head City, Arizona; Tiffany Black of Conway, Arkansas and Dusty Black of Beebe, Arkansas; one brother: Willie Shores of Stuttgart, Arkansas. Services will be Saturday, April 25th, 2015 at 10:00 A. M. at Roller England Funeral Home (501) 842-3939. Bro. Mark Quick will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday, April 24th, 2015 from 6-8:00 P. M. Burial will be in Stoney Point Cemetery in Beebe, Arkansas. The family requests that memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
