When Irving Wilfred Gilbertson was born on May 20, 1917, in Burns, Wisconsin, his father, Mingel, was 26 and his mother, Elma, was 24. He married Norma Jean Price in 1978. He died on July 15, 1999, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 82, and was buried in Beebe, Arkansas.
