OBIT

Leroy Travis, of Jacksonville went to be with his Lord April 1, 2011 after a long illness. He was born October 23, 1929 in Monore, Louisiana to the late Martin and Annabel Travis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Travis was the owner of Travis Painting and Decorating in Monroe, Louisiana for 43 years. He was a deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church before moving to Lake Claiborne, Louisiana and joined Pleasure Point Baptist Church where he also became a deacon. Due to his illness, he moved to Jacksonville, Arkansas in March of 2003, to be close to his children. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

He is survived by his loving wife Violet of 62 years, sons; Roy Travis and his wife Sharon, C.J. Travis and his wife Kathy all of Jacksonville, one daughter Gaylen Ballard and her husband Don of Spokane, Washington, six grandchildren; Teri, Traci, Clayton, Clint, Reva, and Buck, great-grandchildren; Matt, Taylor, Meagan, Grant, and Tyson.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Arkansas Hospice who provided compassionate loving care for his final days.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136 with Reverend Ron Raines, and Steve Walter officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Violet Ruth “Twink” Travis, 90, of Jacksonville, went to be with her Lord on March 4, 2020. She was born in Plainview, Texas on June 21, 1929 to parents Ralph and Alveretta Ruth Tinkle. After being born in Texas, as a young child she moved to Leadville, Colorado. She lived there until getting married in July 1948 and moved with her husband to Monroe, Louisiana. They were married for 62 years. Twink was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy Travis and her parents.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Roy (Sharon) Travis, C.J. (Kathy) Travis and Gaylen (Don) Ballard; six grandchildren, Teri, Traci, Clayton, Clint, Reva and Buck; nine great-grandchildren, Matt, Taylor, Meagan, Grant, Tyson, Porscha, Oakley, Lakelyn, and Roland; two great-great grandchildren, Savvy and Liam and four siblings, Betty (Don) Babion, Herb (Ruth) Tinkle, Bobby (Lynn) Tinkle, and Dale (Ann) Tinkle.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2020 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 501-982-2136.
