Evelyn Anne Perdew Lamp, of 4131 North Rainbow Farm Road, Bentonville, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2003. Born on June 22, 1930, in Marietta, Ohio, she was the daughter of Willard Lee Perdew and Anna Laura Riffle Perdew. She was married to Carl Herbert Lamp on November 7, 1947, and they recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. She was a resident of Athens, Ohio, from 1949 to 1987.

Besides being a full-time mother and homemaker, she worked for a time at Lawhead Press and Woolworth’s, both in Athens, Ohio. After retirement in 1987, she and her husband traveled and worked with National Evangelism With Sojourners, a missionary work of Churches of Christ, until failing health caused them to give it up in 2001. She was a member of the Bentonville Church of Christ.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons and two daughters: Danny (Shirley) and Rick (Betty), both of Bentonville; Randy (Beverly) of Rogers, Arkansas; and Terry (Jill) of Zanesville, Ohio; Debra Murray of Reston, Virginia, and Laura (Bill) King of Bentonville. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Rhodes, and one brother, Gary Perdew, both of Marietta, Ohio; eighteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lee and Chester Perdew; one sister, Eleanor Eichler; and one great-grandson, Braeden Lamp.

Evelyn loved to make quilts for family and friends. She made dozens of them including one for each of her eighteen grandchildren for their high school graduation gift. She also made beautiful Filet Crochet name-doilies for wedding gifts and other special occasions.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2003, 2 p.m., at Bentonville Church of Christ, officiated by Dean Bryce and Walton Hook. Interment will be at Bentonville Cemetery.

BENTONVILLE — Carl Herbert Lamp, 92, of Bentonville, Arkansas passed away, March 16, 2018 at Innisfree Nursing & Rehab in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born September 24, 1925 in the family home in rural Pleasants County, West Virginia to Herbert Clayton Lamp and Vesta Lea Wilson Lamp.

He graduated from Saint Mary's High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He married Evelyn Anne Perdew in 1947.

Carl retired from The National Cash Register Company (NCR) after 40 years, during which he worked in nearly every bank and retail business in four counties of Southeastern Ohio.

In retirement, Carl and Evelyn worked with a group called Sojourners, traveling all around the country, giving assistance to churches, Bible camps and Christian Schools. After ten years, they retired a second time, moving to Bentonville, Arkansas. Evelyn passed away after the two had been married for 55 years. In 2004, Carl married Judy Halford. They lived happily and continued serving in Bentonville for 12 years.

Carl was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and served in numerous congregations as Deacon, Elder, leader, Bible study teacher, personal evangelist and mentor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn (2003); wife, Judy (2017); son, Danny (2012); great grandson, Braeden Lewis Lamp; one brother, Kenneth (2017) and an infant sister, Alice Lenore Lamp.

Carl is survived by five children, David Randall Lamp and wife, Beverly of Bentonville, Terrance Stephen Lamp and wife, Jill of Zanesville, Ohio, Debra Ann Murray of Winchester, Va., Laura Leigh King and husband, Bill of Georgetown, Ky., Richard Alan Lamp and wife, Betty of Bentonville; daughter-in-law, Shirley Lamp of Bentonville; one brother, Jim Lamp of Newport, Ohio; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grand-children.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Bentonville Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Bentonville Church of Christ with Minister Joshua Bundy officiating. Burial will follow at Bentonville Cemetery with full military honors.
