Obituary of Susan Joyce Miller
Susan Miller (61), gardener, cook, determined wife and persevering mother, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, with her family by her side.
Susan was fondly known for her ability to make anything grow, whether it was her luscious garden or the busting waists of her guests. Many envied her green thumb and coveted the diverse blooms of her gardens. When she was not making the world a more beautiful place one tulip at a time, she was curing hunger one pot of greens at a time. As a celebrated southern cook, Susan loved to show-off in the kitchen, which was the only time to witness any lack of humility. Leaving her house without loosening your belt was not an option.

Susan is survived by her spouse, James Wade Miller Jr, to whom she devoted 27 years. The quality of their relationship inspires hope and courage and reminds us that you can have quality and quantity.

Susan was a nurturing mother to six surviving children: AJ Blackhorse, Christy Bullard, Tiffany Dodson, Stacy Carnline, Jacob Miller, and Dr. James Miller III. She inspired dreams, encouraged hard work, and left a legacy of patience and love.

Perhaps Susan’s greatest legacy is her grandchildren, who were her life-blood and vitality. Her ideal day would be spent in the yard surrounded by her grandchildren, chasing animals, and chopping trees. She was a proud mother not only to her own children, their spouses and grandchildren but also to many others, whose lives are reflections of her influence.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2015, the Pentecostals of El Dorado at 2400 James Blvd., with Pastor James Fout and Pastor Wendell Miller officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Urbana Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Susan's life.
