Ronald Hugh Simpson
September 11, 1944 - August 6, 2021

Ronald “Ronnie” Hugh Simpson, 76, of Walnut Ridge died Friday, August 6, 2021; at the CHI St. Vincent’s Arkansas Neuroscience Institute in Sherwood, after a short illness.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Kizziar Simpson.

Ronnie was born in Jackson, TN on September 11, 1944 to the late, Claryon and Cinda Russell Simpson. He was an only child and grew up working in his father’s candy shop.

After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He moved to Memphis and worked for DuPont Chemicals for many years.

Ronnie met Kathy on a blind date in 1966, and they were married three weeks later. Their lives in Memphis was full of adventures; they took an African safari, traveled to Alaska, London, Greece, Holland, and the Panama Canal; and once decided to build a house by hand, themselves; where they lived for several years. The Simpson home was always full of their beloved dogs and cats.

Later, Kathy and Ronnie retired to Walnut Ridge, where Kathy had grown up. In retirement, he was a prolific and talented woodworker and enjoyed traveling to craft shows in the region; where his booths were very popular. He was also an avid golfer and had achieved the impossible hole in one shot, not only once, but twice in his life. He was a member and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Walnut Ridge.

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the NEA Humane Society.
