William Louis Maloch Ashcroft or "Willie," 94, of Hot Springs, passed peacefully surrounded by love and cloaked in grace on Jan. 1, 2018. She was born on Nov. 3, 1923, in Waldo, Ark., to the late Condry D. and Margaret N. Maloch.

Willie obtained her RN here in Hot Springs at St. Joseph's School of Nursing, after which she proudly served during World War II in the Navy Nurse Corps.

From 1945-1946 she worked at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, Calif. She later spent time working at St. Joseph's, Crossett Memorial Hospital, and eventually retired from Levi Hospital after 15 years of service there. Willie would go on to earn not only a Bachelor's degree, but also an MBA.

While her children were growing up, Willie was super mom. She was a loving, devoted mother and wife. She spent time as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, along with numerous other activities such as teaching Sunday school at Oaklawn United Methodist Church and being an active member of the United Methodist Women's group.

In the later seasons of her life Willie remained active and civically involved. She was a member of the DAR, the Emblem Club, Silver Foxes dance troop, a devoted Tai Chi participant at the senior center and even acted as the Grand Marshall at the Veterans Day Parade one year. She did all of this and still remained heavily involved with her family and church family.

Meeting Willie in Heaven is her husband and companion of 64 beautiful years, Herman L. Ashcroft Jr., and her brother, Alvin Maloch.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Herman L. Ashcroft III (Diane) and David C. Ashcroft; grandchildren, Ian C. Ashcroft, Dylan M. Ashcroft, Matthew D. Ashcroft and Christian L. Ashcroft; great-grandchildren, Lillith Ashcroft and Enoch Ashcroft; and several extended family members and special friends.

A visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at Oaklawn United Methodist Church with funeral service to immediately follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oaklawn United Methodist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Quapaw Nursing & Rehab for all of their love, care and attention.
