Wilmer E. (Gene) Miller, age 77, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.

He was born on September 6, 1942, in Black Springs, the son of Paul Miller and Ena Mae Butler Miller of Glenwood. Gene was preceded in death by his parents.

After high school, Gene joined the United States Air Force, serving his country for twenty years. One of the highlights of his career was working on the SR-71 project at Edwards Air Force Base in California. While in the military he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Saint Leo University in Florida. After his military career, Gene taught electronics and math at Quapaw Vo-Tech for sixteen years.

Gene loved going on cruises with his wife, building wooden games, playing golf, and spending time with his family. He will be best remembered for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.

Gene is survived by the love of his life, his wife of fifty-six years, Laquita Vaught Miller of Hot Springs; two daughters, Gina Miller and her husband, Shannon, of Hot Springs Village and Laura Miller of Memphis, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Maigan Omohundro, Morgan Wallace (Thomas), Lauryn Hudgins (Caleb), Mason Wills and Marika Wills; his great-grandchildren, Treyton Gray and Jaxton Gray; his siblings and their spouses, Glenda and Richard Garner, Keith and Sandy Miller, Charlotte and Gary Risner, Joey and Tracy Miller, Dianne Lauser and Rebecca Ross; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be held for all his family and friends at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 27, 2020, in the Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Gilmore officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United State Air Force Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than fifty persons at any one time at all indoor events. You must avoid all physical contact and attendees ten years of age or older must be wearing a face covering to enter.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
