Jamie Marie Fietkau, 45, was born on September 10, 1975, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Carol and Dr. James Nelson. She passed away peacefully in her home on December 1, surrounded by her beloved family. In 1995, she married David Fietkau, and together they had 9 children. She is survived by her parents, siblings, children and 3 grandchildren. Jamie often said that other people collect things, but she collected children because her kids were her favorite people. Her family was her true passion in life and her life was spent ensuring her family knew of her love by playing with her boys and teaching her daughters.

Growing up with her father in the military, Jamie lived in and traveled to many different parts of the world, gaining an enduring love for history and learning. You could always find several books throughout her home that she was reading or hear about new documentaries she was excited about. During the majority of her married years, she home schooled many of her children. Her passion for learning fueled her efforts in teaching her children as she taught by learning and faith. She shared her love of reading with her children, often reading them stories late into the night as they listened, enthralled by her voice. She will be dearly missed, but her good memories live on in the values and traditions she instilled, the love she fostered, and the passion for learning she inspired.

Jamie battled an invasive brain tumor called a Glioblastoma for the past two years. With each new surgery, chemotherapy, or trial medication, Jamie pressed forward with faith. When she started to lose her ability to speak, she found her voice by creating meaningful art. Many were inspired by her loyalty, faith, and hope throughout an extremely trying and difficult time. Visitors, friends, and family would stop by to cheer her up and would leave feeling that she had lifted their spirits instead.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 11:00 am, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint Chapel in Centerton, Arkansas. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Bentonville Cemetery following the service.
