J. Tyler Seiz passed away on January 26, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 2, 1933 in Hot Springs to William A. Seiz and Doris Russell Seiz, Tyler is survived by his wife Brenda Seiz, his daughter Janet (Eliza Willis) Seiz of Iowa City, his son Jon (Denise) Seiz of Louisville, and grandchildren Alyson (Trevor) Johnson of Cincinnati, and Austin Seiz of Louisville.

Tyler graduated from Hot Springs H.S. in 1951 and attended the University of Missouri and the University of Arkansas. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. Upon his return, he joined his father in the family business Seiz Sign Co.. Following his father’s death in 1990, he established Tyler Seiz Signs, retiring in 2013 after nearly 60 years of serving clients in the outdoor advertising and sign business. He was a longtime member of the Jaycees, the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, and the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. His artistic gifts were evident in his work and many other aspects of his life.

Tyler’s friends and family reveled in his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and engaging storytelling. He had an inquiring mind and was an independent thinker who loved to stump friends and family with thought provoking questions. He and Brenda shared an extraordinary gift of hospitality, entertaining many friends over the years. Tyler was known for his lifelong love of dogs, which was enthusiastically reciprocated by a number of rescued pets.

He enjoyed travel, boating, hunting, home improvement projects, and a good card game. He embraced life fully and will be missed by all who were close to him. The family thanks the doctors and nursing staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their compassionate care.

A visitation will be held at Caruth Funeral Home on Saturday, January 30 at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. The service will be followed by a private burial.
