January 20, 1930 - August 5, 2019
Milton Thomas George, 89, left his earthly home for his Heavenly home Monday, August 5, 2019. Milton was born January 20, 1930, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Omar Jack and Bertie Shellnut George. He attended Bob Jones and Mercer Universities. He had a heart for sharing his love for the Lord through several small churches he pastored, most recently Gilead Baptist, Malvern, Arkansas, and Emmanuel Baptist, Hot Springs. He also worked at Brown and Root as a purchasing agent. Upon moving to Hot Springs in 1999, he worked for the State of Arkansas in their purchasing Department, retiring in 2009.
On June 12, 1960, he married Janet Roseanne Eldridge, to whom he was lovingly devoted for over 60 years. They raised two daughters and one son. He had a soft heart and a wry sense of humor. He loved listening to his grandson, Stuart, play the piano and requested that he do so often, even in his final days.
He dearly loved his family and family vacations, especially to the Smokey Mountains, and was thrilled when his family presented him and Janet with a 50th anniversary trip that included the whole family back to those mountains.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and grandson, Ryan. He is survived by his wife, Janet, three children, Martha Lynn (Todd) Morris, David DeWayne George, and Rebecca Faye (Lee) Sowerbutts, six grandchildren: Brittany Morris Brumbelow, Courtney Morris Garcia, Austin, Stuart, Nicholas and Brady Sowerbutts, eight great Grandchildren, and a Twin Brother, Millard Charles (Margaret) George.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, Section Line Road, Hot Springs.
