A Celebration of Life for Daniel Callen of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Heather Clawitter officiating.
Daniel passed away February 11, 2017, in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 86. He was born December 3, 1930, in Jerome, Idaho, the son of Carl and Mabel Mullins Callen. He married Carol Lower on October 6, 1950, in Los Angeles, California and served as a sonar technician in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, Dan worked another 20 years as a superintendent of the Rancho Santa Fe Irrigation District in California. Daniel moved to Mountain Home in 1991. He was a member of the Submariners and enjoyed woodworking and feeding his deer.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Carol Callen of Mountain Home, AR; two sons, Michael Callen of Mountain Home, AR and Patrick (Debbie) Callen of Mountain Home, AR; two daughters, Cathryn Osheim of Mountain Home, AR and Shannon (Jim) Lynch of Tulsa, OK; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carla Mae Farmer of California and two brothers, Deane (Phyllis) Callen of Idaho and Dale (Anna) Callen of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Callen.
Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Military Honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to a Veterans' Organization of choice.
Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
