Obituary for Bernard Phillips
A Celebration of Life for Bernard Gregory "Bernie" Phillips of Gassville, Arkansas, will be Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00am at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Cotter, Arkansas, with Dr. Terry Moser, officiating. Bernie passed away February 5, 2012, in Gassville, Arkansas at the age of 78. He was born October 19, 1933, in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Dana and Elva Phillips. He married Virgie Nell Murray on July 3, 1959, at Redoak, Texas. He was a buyer for Big Blue Stores and was a U.S. Army veteran. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Kansas. Bernard lived in Gassville, Arkansas since 1995, moving from Seymour, Indiana. He was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and West Baxter County Food Bank. He enjoyed golfing and fishing with his friends. Bernie is survived by one daughter, Wendy Hendricks of Indianapolis, IN; two sons, Dana Phillips of Virginia Beach, VA and Michael (Carol) Simmons of Forney, TX; 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Entombment will be at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the West Baxter County Food Bank. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
