Robert Dale Behnke
Lakeview - Robert Dale Behnke, age 88, of Lakeview, Arkansas passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born to William and LaVerne (Craig) Behnke on August 30, 1930 in Coles County, Illinois near Matoon, Illinois.
Robert graduated from Roanoke Victory High School in Roanoke, Illinois in 1948. He joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and served as a Battery Clerk in 963rd Field Artillery Battalion in Augsburg, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1954. He served his apprenticeship at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria, and after 30 years of service he retired in 1985. Also he worked at the Joliet and Aurora plants during the course of his carrier. In 1968 he married Karen Hyatt and resided in Boulder Hill, Illinois for 19 years, and they moved to Naples, Florida in 1987 for 18 years where Bob was extremely active in playing tennis and maintaining clay tennis courts. In the year 2000 he was named the Most Outstanding Tennis Court Engineer in the U.S. by the USTA and TBA. He participated in and won many tennis tournaments while living there. In May of 2005, he and his family moved to Lakeview, Arkansas.
Robert is survived by his wife Karen; children: Marjorie Mooberry (Richard), Cynthia McCoy (Bobby), Robert Crawford, Richard Behnke, Steven Behnke (Dawn), Andrew Behnke, Patrick Behnke (Shantell); siblings: Elmer Behnke (Terri) and Shirley Bohlander; 17 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Joyce Faye Behnke and Martha May Rinaldo; brothers: Ronald Behnke, William Behnke, and Kenneth Jean Behnke.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 12 to 1 P.M. at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services held at 1 P.M. with Reverend Randy Ludwig officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home
