Thomas E. "Tom" Carter, Sr., age 76, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in Mountain Home.

He was born January 31, 1935, in Downers Grove, Illinois, to Sylvester and Anna Brychta Carter. On September 3, 1953, he married Bernadine Marie "Bernie" Zolecki in Lemont, Illinois, and moved to Promise Land, Arkansas in 1981. Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and was a faithful member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church where he participated in Eucharistic Adoration. He owned Tom Carter Builders, was a volunteer firefighter and board member with the Oakland Promise Land Fire Department and later with the Midway Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of the Oakland Area Improvement Association and was a member of the Fisherman Council Knights of Columbus. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed animals and playing cards.

Survivors are three sons: Tom (Kim) Carter, Jr.: Mountain Home; Greg (Pam) Carter: Lockport, Illinois; and John (Julie) Carter: Mountain Home; three brothers: Ronald (Pat) Carter: Plainfield, Illinois; Dennis (Janine)Carter: Downers Grove, Illinois; and George (Barbara) Carter: Lemont, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Sarah (Michael) Wingfield; Jackie, Gregory, J.C., Jake and Jaden Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers: Robert and Donald Carter; and two sisters: Charmayne Mogzis and Eileen Auten.

Visitation will be from Noon-9:00 P.M. Friday, July 15, 2011, at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00P.M. A Vigil Service will be at 7:00 P.M. Friday in the Roller Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Reverend Stan Swiderski as celebrant. Private entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Serenity in Baxter Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of St. Peter's Church or Hospice of the Ozarks.

Bernadine M. "Bernie" Carter, age 73, of Mountain
Home, Arkansas, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at
her residence.

She was born December 28, 1935, at Lemont, Illinois, to Albert and Anna Garbolski Zolecki. On September 3, 1955, she married Thomas E. "Tom" Carter in Lemont, and moved to Promise Land, Arkansas in 1981. A devoted
wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she also was a devout Catholic, was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, and was a former choir member and was a 50-year member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in
Lemont. She was a volunteer EMT with the Oakland Promise Land Fire Department, was a member of the Oakland Area Improvement Association and enjoyed crafts and reading. She was a homemaker.

Survivors are her husband: Thomas E. "Tom" Carter, Sr.: of the home; three sons: Tom (Kim) Carter, Jr.: Mountain Home; Greg (Pam) Carter: Lockport, Illinois; and John (Julie) Carter: Mountain Home; two brothers: Albert (Theresa) Zolecki: Plainfield, Illinois and Bernard (Helen) Zolecki: Lockport, Illinois; six grandchildren: Sarah (Michael) Wingfield; Jackie, Gregory, J.C., Jake and Jaden Carter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
