John W. Hilburn Sr.

John W. Hilburn Sr. passed away at home under the care of Legacy Hospice on June 6, 2021, at the age of 84. He was born in Eaton, to Owen and Mary Hilburn on August 6, 1936. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Bonny (Roberts) Hilburn; his second wife, Nancy Ansley Hilburn; a grandson, John (“Little John”) Hilburn III; and also by one brother and two sisters.

He enjoyed gardening and helping others. He was known for his musical talents (which were many) especially for his guitar playing and singing. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, had a kind heart and a caring soul. He is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Roger) Diffey of Bellefonte and Jan (Justin) Stapleton of Harrison; one son, John (Kelli) Hilburn Jr. of Branson, Mo.; one sister, Lou Ann (Bobby) Shaw of Jonesboro; one brother, Dale (Jan) Hilburn of Phoenix; five grandchildren, three step grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; all of Nancy’s kids and grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

At his request, no services are planned, since he had donated his body to Genesis in Memphis for research and training purposes.

In memory of John, you may make donations to Legacy Hospice in Harrison, Arkansas.
