DICKERSON, Mary J. STRAIN – (Baldwin) R.M. Dickerson’s wife was buried last Thursday in King Cemetery. She died last Monday morning about the same hour of the Hasting boy, at her daughter’s in McKinney, Texas. Her remains were shipped here for burial. They came to Fayetteville on 7 o’clock train Wednesday morning and were shipped out to Harris on St. Paul branch and taken from there up to Uncle Bill Strains, her brother and kept there until next morning. Her husband, three sons and son-in-law came to set her, laid to rest by the side of her baby boy, who died of diphtheria, he was the second son born to them. She was the mother of six other sons and three daughters. They are all living and have families of their own. They only lost one child in his infancy. She was a faithful wife and mother. She was converted in her youth and united with the Protestant Methodist church and lived a true Christian life until her death. She had been sick three years and was 73 years old. Her husband is older. They lived together 55 years, how sad and lonely life will be for him now and he is in feeble health. I have known them both from my childhood, even before their marriage, which was soon after the close of the Civil war. – E.A.R.
