Frederick Ellsworth Dempsey, 79, of Jacksonville died October 11, 2008. He was born December 14, 1928 in DeWitt, Arkansas to the late Forrest E. and Mellie Jacobs Dempsey. He was also preceded in death by a brother Harold Dempsey, and his first wife Rubye Jackson Dempsey; the mother of his children. Frederick began working in 1948 for the Southwestern States and General Telephone Company in DeWitt, Stuttgart and Jacksonville for a total of 42 years. He served in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. Frederick was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling. He and his wife, Dorothy, made several trips around the United States and parts of Canada. He especially enjoyed doing things with his grandchildren; going to their ballgames, taking them fishing and playing games.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Cruthis Dempsey; his children, Marilyn K. Carden and husband Jerry of Lonsdale, Beverly J. Stark and husband Doug of Benton, and Thomas E. Dempsey of Cabot; grandchildren, Jeremy W. Stark, Stephanie Diane and Kayla Denise Dempsey.

Funeral Service with military honors will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bro. Steve Walters officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 p.m., Monday at Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund (501)982-2803. Arrangements are under the direction of Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136.

Dorothy Lou Dempsey, 86, of Jacksonville passed from this life on May 15, 2018. She was born October 11, 1931 in Roe, Arkansas to the late Lloyd and Ottllie M. Ideker Cruthis. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, making several trips around the United States and Canada with her late husband, Fredrick Dempsey, working in her yard, cooking and feeding the hummingbirds. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville and spent many years as a Telephone Operator for General Telephone. She was preceded in death by siblings, Richard and Troy Cruthis.

Survivors include her children, Thomas Dempsey of Cabot, Marilyn K. (Jerry) Carden of Lonsdale, Beverly J. (Doug) Stark of Benton; grandchildren, Jeremy W. ( Jess) Stark of San Diego, California, Stephanie Diane (Randy) Runshe of Ward, Kayla Denise Dempsey of Los Angeles, California; and great-grandchild, Natalie Diane Runshe. Other survivors include siblings, George Cruthis of Cave City, Wayne Cruthis of Conroe, Texas, Irene Gill of Stuttgart, Sue Plafcan of Little Rock and Rose Kostas of Cave City; along with of a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2018 at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.
